Speaking of Serious Sam, if anyone has played both the original and the remake, how do they compare?  I never got around to playing the original, but I tried the remake and could not get into it at all.  It's definitely not because I don't like the old style of shooter, because I had just played a bunch of Painkiller not too long before that and was having a great time like back in the day.  Actually, I like the old style shooters so much that I get mildly distressed when circle strafing doesn't work in new games, but that's another issue entirely...  Heh.
If you didn't like the Serious Sam remakes, chances are you just don't like Serious Sam. From what I remember they are just slight graphics updates and engine/netcode improvements. The point of the game is literally just to run around killing tons of monsters (preferably with friends) and getting better weapons. It's not that much different from left 4 dead or many over gratuitous monster slaughter titles, except for the novelty of its age.

If we have enough serious Sam fans on this board, we should get a game going. It truly shines with multiplayer. And it would have to be the remake. I own the original also, but the new one does have updated  network code.

I'm very ok with that (see also: Painkiller and 90% of FPSes from before 2000).  I don't remember exactly what it was that led to me not finishing it, but I guess I just didn't like the "feel" of it as much as I hoped to for whatever reason.

If there are enough people who want to do that, I actually might be interested.  It does seem like it'd probably be better that way, and I'd hoped for a chance to do that when I picked up a copy of it last year.
