Long time listener, first time caller.
Bumped into AI War during the Steam holiday sale though it's been something I've been keeping my eye on for a few months (waiting for a sale I'm ashamed to say
). Completely missed the demo otherwise I probably would have snapped it up straight off the bat but hey, I'm here now and that's the important thing (I bought the add on pack as well so hopefully that balances things out slightly
.
Been hovering around the Steam forums to start and quickly realised that they're far too boring for such a great experience sharing game so decided to finally come here
Absolutely love the game and love the fact that I can play it on any machine I reside on (laptop or home PC).
As I previously stated in my Steam forum review, it's refreshing to play an indie game which isn't just an expanded gimmick (not to say that expanded gimmicks can't be fun too), but is instead a complete gaming experience (and a damn good one at that!).
In terms of my history, my first RTS experiences were with Red Alert 1 and Total Annihiliation and like many others here, loved Supreme Commander and Homeworld. When playing SC (mostly PvP), I remember craving a better co-op experience. Comp stomps, even on the hardest difficulty weren't especially challenging and so instead got my kicks out of beating mates up (I got pretty damn good actually to be fair
. Equally, I've played a lot of Civ, MOO2 and more recently Galactic Civ 2, so my love of strategy has been around for a good long while.
Recently my gaming time has been cut somewhat short due to a recent addition to the family (a wailing, 2 month old son) which is by no means a bad thing,
but I'm hoping to be able to play a little more now he's sleeping more (halleluja)
Now to get Steam installed on my work computer...
