So today...today I can suggest:

Amnesia: The Dark Descent. As long as you don't mind losing your sanity ;), I still have yet to play this beyond the demo (due to other games), but I hear it is quite the paranoia inducing game.
Plants VS Zombies, pretty sure I already recommended this though.

The rest I haven't played yet.

I've tried out the Witcher 2, and its pretty good.  Worth a recommendation. Though its hard. I died in the tutorial fighting section and the game recommended I play on the easiest setting. Heh. Which is funny considering I've played the likes of dark souls.

I've heard awful things about Krater.

Nothing in the indie bundle today really interests me. Avadon from yesterday did, but I'll hold off it for a 75% sale. Is Stalker really that good?  It still has rollover time from yesterday's deal and I'm a little curious about if I can get it to run on wine. I'm not a huge FPS fan, but when I do I like the Deus Ex or horror styled games.

Anyone played The Witcher 1?  It is on sale too, and I figured I'd begin at the beginning if it was worth it.

I've played the witcher 1. The combat and parts of the UI (crafing especially) are not so enjoyable to be honest. The story, character building, and RPG aspects of it are great however but I am not sure if the gameplay is good enough to justify the time it takes to do a playthrough, its a long game.

The second really improves upon the combat mechanics to make it more fun, and doesn't really require knowledge of the first witcher to play.

Edit: Though at 2.50, its worth a try to see if you like it. I did not find the combat particularly fun, and I recall the crafting interface being painful.

Idk if STALKER can run on Wine, but it is a good game to get, especially if your into Deus Ex/horror games. The first two games, Shadow of Chernobyl and Clear Skies, are a bit buggy and with mods are a bunch better experience. Call of Pripyat is a much more polished experience. The first and last I have played and they were very enjoyable for open world, FPS, horror games. I would recommend getting at least one. :)

If you were to get one stalker game, which is the definitive one you would say to go with, Call of Pripyat?

Yeah, call of pripyat because it is the best polished of the three and looks the best.

The other two will require fiddling with to get the best experience out of them. (mods).

Demigod is ok...but the game had a bad launch and the community is small last I heard. There are other "better" MOBA games, but Moonshine Fox and I had fun playing it several months back it's friends.

To the question about Witcher 1: I tried it, but even on low settings my desktop computer (which is a quite competent dev machine unlike my craptop, but lacks a discrete video card) was working in seconds-per-frame in the initial area, not frames-per-second.  Didn't get far :)

Demigod is an awesome MOBA-style game, especially with mods. Expect to play ONLY with friends or against the AI. The absolutely shit netcode killed that game on release and it never recovered in spite of patching.

Given how badly that star networking worked out on launch, that may actually be the technically accurate term.
