They do actually, if they want to sell to consoles and get the most amount of eyes on their games. People still go to retail to buy videogames for a variety of reasons. One practical reason is that their Internet sucks and downloading a game takes a century. one day though...hopefully they drop retailers
To be quite fair though, with my 24/5 line, it takes less time to download a game than to drive to the closest retail store and buy it :P. This is a combination of proper Internet infrastructure and having about 60km to the nearest such store :P

You also live in Sweden. The US Internet infrastructure is a mess, no thanks to how big this country is and how much rural area there is. Heh.

Well, that and the fact that it's old. Having the internet first was nice when it was new, but now it's causing problems.

I have a 30/5 line in the US, and I have a gamestop only 5km (3 mi) from my house. It's still far faster to download.

Where in the US do you live that you get a connection that fast? I might need to move there. The best I can get here is like 15/.75

I can generally only get 2MB/sec down on mine, but even for a 20GB game that's something like 3 hours (if I'm doing the math right).  I could probably get it faster retail but it would be less convenient because I can do other things during the download (and I'm not paying money for gas to drive, and generally I'm buying at a significant discount already).  And most of the games I get are less than 5GB.

I live in North Raleigh. Not far from Keith and Chris. I could get 50/5 if I wanted to pay more but 30/5 is sufficient for my needs.

Wow, I'm in Durham... I don't know any carriers here that do that speed, maybe I need to look again.

Theres also the thing where no one seems particularly interested afaik in actually upgrading the cables besides Verizon and Google, and Google is getting complained at for doing so.

Like I said, that was as far as I knew about. I don't know much about TWC.

TWC, here is the world's smallest violin for you. Geez, what a bunch of crybabies. Maybe they should have been upgrading their stuff.
