: Thanks for Linux support!

I wanted to express my appreciation for your support of Linux with Bionic Dues. What I read about the game leading up to launch sounded very intriguing, but I'd hesitated on picking it up right away as I've been spending an increasing amount of my gaming time on Linux. It was very exciting to see you added Linux support, and I picked it up last night. Great fun so far! I haven't put a lot of time into it yet, but it has a fantastic amount of polish and runs smooth on my setup. Extremely engaging (read: addicting) game also, as I had to force myself to stop for the night.

Excellent work!

Seconded.  I could've sworn you guys were fairly recently saying that you don't see Linux support as a likelihood in the near future.  Since Bionic Dues is one of a very small number of games I'm currently playing, I'm barely having to touch my Windows install at all.  Which means I'm happier. :)

Our pleasure!  It wasn't super recent that we were saying linux support was out -- in the past, until last year or so, it was a "definite no" because the unity 3d engine did not support it.  Then they did, but their newer versions of the engine had all sorts of bugs that prevented us from upgrading since last June or so when we actually bought the upgrade.  Finally things were cleaned up to the point we could upgrade during Bionic, and aside from a few minor upgrade hiccups, all went really well with that process during the alpha.  And since we were finally on an engine version that supported the platform, linux support was something we added really quickly.

Holy ****. Native Linux support for an Arcen game!!!
WOOOOOO!!!!!

Found out, oddly enough, by looking through the list of native Linux games in steam, saw Bionic Dunes, went like, "Hey isn't that the same robot design in the icon Bionic Dunes subforum on Arcen games?", checked here, and confirmed.

Great to see that the Linux port of Unity is finally in a usable position.

Do these newest versions of unity fix up some of the issues you were having in the other games with the Unity 4 versions? (like inconsistent, sometimes dog slow asset loading speeds and whatnot)

Yes.

This means that at some point in the future, we can bring, at least our more popular older games to Linux. This is something we plan to do at some point, but, we're not sure quite yet when.

I didn't log since i played AVWW1, but now i'm playing Bionic Dues, i have to add a comment. I positively appreciate the native Linux support ! The only problem, like some other games, is i must launch Bionic Dues within the terminal, with this command :

LC_ALL=C ./BionicDues.x86

I've been told that is because my system is french, not english.

Try setting "LC_ALL=C %command%" in the Launch Options (without quotes) for each game you have the problem with.  You can get to the launch options by right-clicking on the game and going to Properties.

I realize this thread is kinda old, but I wanted to chime in with my thanks, as well!

I just recently decided to finally get my feet wet in Linux with a dual boot setup of Ubuntu. (Despite all the hipstery hate, it seems alright once you dump the default desktop environment for Gnome. *shrug)

Anyway, I was super stoked to see my favorite Arcen game available to play on it. :) I'd love to see some of the others ported over, too, but don't kill yourselves doing it if you think you're only going to scrape together a few pennies for your trouble!

There's definitely a market for your games among the more geekily-inclined, though, for sure. :)
