Raptor DLC
« on: July 12, 2016, 10:53:43 am »
What about a crossover?
We might breed a raptor along the game, we sell or adapt all those robot parts we don't use to enhance the raptor with genetics or cyber. In the end of the game, it launches if we miss the last mission. Or we could launch it prevently to facilitate the mission therafter, but the rampaging of the raptor should remove victory points (or other).

It would be fun!  Unfortunately I don't think a Bionic Dues expansion would actually sell right now.  The base game itself hasn't even broken even yet. :/

Thanks, I'm a failed games dev' (at 4 I said I wanted to devise things for people, so my parents wanted me an engineer).

I remember the lauch was very bad: insulting Steam only (so I waited for a sale release elsewere), the screenshots were black and ugly and we didn't understand what happens in.
So, I finally bought in a sale on GOG, and discovered it's my prefered game of yours, even with its flaws (secondaries) and I play few now (but I always install it).

What, really?

Ugh, that's a shame that it's sold so badly.   The game turned out fantastic.  I've put some damn silly number of hours into it myself... doesn't really get old.   It gets murderous, yes, but not old.

Yep.  Tidalis, AVWW +2, Bionic Dues, Shattered Haven, and Starward Rogue are all still in the red.

Referring specifically to SR in general, or to all of them?  For SR: http://arcengames.com/great-work-on-starward-rogue-team-now-youre-all-laid-off/

The situation on that front has only gotten worse.  In a general sense, AI War and TLF paid for the other failures.  And for the excessive unfruitful-so-far-since-it's-not-out expenditures that went into SBR.

dunno if ever fruitful, but letting developing of SBR slide doesn't make you money either.. *hint* *cough* release it on early access *cough*

Seriously
What do you have to lose? Either it's gonna be fun or not.. but don't let it slide into development hell. SBR is the one interesting game since TLF I'd actually want to play and every month it doesn't release on EA is a month development is gonna go slower and slower. I feel like the 1 thing this game needs more than anything is a proper first customer base that gives you (or keith) feedback how to make it more fun. But not releasing it deprives you of that feedback.

Just looking at public tester feedback I can see that this is the 1 game that has the greatest potential.

Keith is working on SBR and getting that into a different state that should be more fun.

What do I have to lose if we release it into early access and it's not fun?  Lots of reputation.  Either we make it fun or we take a huge black eye for selling you something un-fun.  We're not confident we can make it fun, so we're making sure it's fun before we do that sort of thing.

See the reason I ask is that there hasn't been an update in many months, and your own forum header thingy says "Stars Beyond Reach release - Delayed to Q2 2016"

We now have Q3 2016

I just don't want you to go bankrupt before you can make AI War 2 and 6 expansions + mod support. ^^

Keith has been working on it behind the scenes with a few people.  But then he was out for a month or so on paternity leave, and another half month moving across the country, and then was helping me on some Raptor stuff for about a week and a half.

good god I didn't think that many games you've made didn't manage to even break even I just hope release raptor does id hate to see you not be able to develop full time any more.
particularly before making that survival game which really has my interest.

but I'm really surprised tidals didn't manage to break even particularly since its art doesn't look like it was very expensive to create
then again I probably shouldn't be considering how little it gets talked about even on this forum were its practically poking in the ribs for attention.
