Really odd Resolution Bug
« on: January 16, 2014, 08:11:56 pm »
So, I open Bionic Dues on Linux Mint and go to the settings and see the below screenshot. I can't press any of the buttons and I usually have to kill the game manually because I can't click anything. This happens in single monitor and dual monitor. I've looked through a ton of google searches but no one seems to have this problem but me. A solution would be really appreciated. Heck, just getting the game to boot into windowed mode would probably help.

The problem here is that it is trying to set the game to a resolution that does not match your desktop, or something on that order, and it has offset the buttons because of a strangeness with how that works.  The game is functioning, but you have to click in magic invisible areas to hit the buttons that are way elsewhere in actual visual coordinates.  It's something to do with how linux handles fullscreen mode on certain machines, it's very odd.

To fix this, go into settings.dat in your runtimedata folder inside the game folder, and you can change the settings for things like windowed mode, the resolutions in question, etc.  Once you get a good match set up, things will line up properly and no worries.

Sorry for the confusion there!

Thanks Chris, I found the settings.dat file and it has the resolution set to 3360x1050 o_O....I'm running 1680x1050. I....ok then. At least that settings file exists. Thanks!

You bet!  And that is... super odd.  The only reason the game would have defaulted to that is the unity engine read that in as your default screen resolution.  Possibly the multiple monitors caused it to report all the monitors across?

Yeah, I think it's got something to do with the Nividia drivers because now that I think about it, the X-server config screen says +1680 when referring to the other screen. I'll have to figure that out. Some other time :P

I think it is probably the mode that the drivers are in.  There's something like a "stretched" mode in windows, at least, where it creates one big desktop rather than two actual windows.  Can lead to some odd stuff.  If that functionality is enabled in the drivers but not really supported by your distro, then maybe that's causing a disconnect there.
