A note on the recently added achievements
« on: September 30, 2013, 03:34:16 pm »
It just occurred to me that many of these will be trivial to acquire during the first days of a campaign, especially if the "easy bot" selection is still active.

Maybe we should add an additional day limit to their requirements (like, after day 10 or 20)?
That would spice things up a bit and make sure the player actually has to work for them...

And as I got you Keith - this is where you are going with this one, isn't it ;).

Acquiring the Expert versions of most of them will not really be trivial, I don't think.  Maybe not as hard as I would like if the player figures out they can farm the early game for easier achievements... but honestly, while I am trying to make them all effort-based, I'm not too worried about avoiding situations where they're easier to get than one might think at first.  The achievements are not the challenge of the game, really, just something to motivate players (those thus inclined, at least) to try something different, and a few to help with the standard "I beat the game, I should get an achievement" :)

Did not try Expert yet (mostly playing on Hard), so I will withhold my judgement until then :).
What about the new Misery difficulty that was discussed sometime ago, btw? Is it still something you are inclined/want to add? I would definitely be inclined to follow your argument as far as that is concerned ;D...

Just two quick questions about the achievements that are in place:

- If I obtain an achievement on (say) normal difficulty, will the game automatically grant the same achievement for the lower difficulties easy and casual or would it be necessary to really do a game in these modes to obtain it, if I wanted to?

- About the "Only use Exo X in a mission": If I want to get it for, say, the science exo and the mission starts with the assault exo, does switching the bot already count as an action for the assault bot?  ;)

Cheers,
Ipkins

It grants the lower ones, no need to play lower just for that :)

Yea, it counts.  I'm gonna fix it so the first action doesn't count so you can switch.
