Can't move
« on: August 28, 2012, 11:11:27 pm »
I recently downloaded the demo on Steam. I can start the game and it seems to run fine, but I can't move left or right. Pressing A or D does nothing. I can still crouch and jump though. Some other keys might not work either, but I can't really tell.
Also the mouse cursor flickers when I move it, and dissapears when it's not moving.

I'm thinking the moving problem might have something to do with gamepad, but I'm not using one nor am I using a gamepad program. So I'm not sure how that would mess anything up, but in another game I have (Recettear), the controls were messed up so I disabled gamepad settings and it fixed it. I can't do that with this game though because when I try to click the gamepad control when editing it, it blips on then off and wont let me do anything with it.

Hey there,

That definitely sounds like you have something messed up with your gamepad settings on your system.  You can manually edit the inputbindings.dat file in the RuntimeData folder under the game folder (the file path for this is shown in the bottom of the settings window) to remove all the gamepad bindings if you like.  Any of the entries that say "Joystick1Button[X]" or "[X]Gamepad" should just become "None" and that will remove all the gamepad bindings.

To solve this for all games, you might consider looking in the Game Controllers settings in windows and seeing if it has some sort of definition for a gamepad that is not really there.  But it sounds like you may have already checked that.  It's definitely an unusual problem, but unbinding the gamepad controls should definitely resolve it either way.

Hope that helps!

I've had this problem with some cheaper, third party controllers. Most often then not, I end up having to disconnect the controllereentirely to fix it. Just for that game.
