[RESOLVED] Gamepad (Razer) Support?
« on: April 24, 2012, 07:44:27 pm »
Hello,

I was wondering if the Razer Onza gamepad was supported? I tried using it, but the only button that works is A (jump). I can't move or do anything else. I've made sure to set my controls to gamepad. My Onza is working fine in other games with gamepad support. I've tried restarting the game a few times to no avail.

Please let me know if you require any additional information.

Your gamepad is definitely supported, but you may have to map the controls yourself as we don't have a default mapping for that one.

By default the gamepad controls map to the XBox 360 controller.  I suggest going into the "view and edit controls" section of the "general" tab of the settings menu, and then choosing the Logitech Rumblepad II gamepad controller option from the dropdown on the bottom of that page.  That will change all the control mappings to something that is likely to be a lot closer to what your gamepad expects.  But then you may still wish to customize the controls through that "view and edit controls" page for your specific gamepad and tastes.

We made everything mappable so that you have the flexibility to hopefully get exactly what you want in terms of controls.  Cheers!

Thank you for the quick reply. Setting it to Logitech Rumble pad worked like you said, and got me to where I needed to be.

The Onza is a 0815 Pad working with the 360 driver for Windows. Usually it works just as any normal 360 pad would. Why won't you provide a default mapping for this controller then?

Unfortunately we can't provide mappings for gamepads we don't own!  I've never actually heard of the gamepad that you're talking about, not that that means much -- I know pretty much the "big two" and that's about it.

The cool thing is, you can set up mappings for any gamepad at all using the control settings, so you never have to worry about your gamepad not being properly supported.  If you get a good mapping for a new kind of controller and you'd like to share that others, please feel free to share your inputbindings.dat here on the forums.  If you tell us the controller model (which you already did), we might be able to actually include that with the game itself so that future players don't run into the same issue.

Thanks for your support!

I just wanted to note that the bindings should be exactly the same, since the controller is using the same driver as the 'big' 360 Controller (at least every game I know recognizing the normal 360 controller does so with the Razer Onza and maps buttons accordingly). I did not plan to play the game with a controller :)

Okay -- in that case, there's no reason it shouldn't already work with the defaults.

Wow - that was fast. I'll try it some day with the controller and report if it works out-of-the-box then.
