[RESOLVED] Setup file not loading
« on: May 02, 2012, 05:09:11 pm »
Hi there,

I really hope this is just me making a stupid mistake, but I downloaded the demo / basic file of AVWW for Windows and it's refusing to run.  I'm on Win 7 64 bit.  I've tried running as administrator and using XP compatibility just in case, but nothing's helped so far.  Any advice / suggestions?

Thanks!

P.

Is there a particular error message?  It may be that your file didn't fully download or something.  Not aware of any such issues in a general case, but a partial file download would do it.

Hope that helps!

I'm having the same(or at least a similar) problem. I run the file, get the window confirming I want to give it permission to mes with my computer, say yes and then...nothing happens.

I'm on windows 7 32 bit

Yes, Metasane's description is the same as my experience.  There's Windows' usual "This thing could be dangerous" message (Do you want the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes), I click "Yes", and then nothing happens.

I'll try switching it off and switching it on again. *shrugs*

Edit: tried that, didn't help.  Any suggestions?  The setup file is coming up as 129,140 K according to Windows, hopefully that's the expected size.

Thanks!

Not sure what to say beyond this at the moment -- that's a new one on me.  The installer is just a standard bitrock installbuilder installer, so it's pretty common and not something we coded.  I'm on windows 7 64bit and haven't had the issue, and by this point we've got over ten thousand copies out in the wild, and this is the first I've heard of the issue.  I really wonder if the download got truncated or something.

Sorry, I put this in an edit of my last message, but we posted at the same time & I don't know if you'll see it.  Windows thinks my file is 129,140 K - is that what you'd expect to have in the setup file?

Thanks!

Having re-downloaded the file I can confirm that in my instance the problem was caused by it lacking about 30Mb of the complete file. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Edit: And in response to pertusaria, the file should be 382,830Kb

Sorry for the delay, was doing a podcast and then dinner.  Glad that solved it in both cases!
