Water, water, everywhere....

... and I don't remember it being that way! I entered into a sea zone and I've got water in front of me and water behind me. I'm assuming I can exit the area by just running in one direction or the other?

sounds like you were looking to enter the shallows and accidentally got yourself stuck in deep ocean.

Yeah, you can exit.  Look at the chunk map and find the room #1, or at least head 'downward' in room numbers.  Eventually you'll hit the edge and get back in your boat.

Keep your platforms handy and try to just super-jump/stormdash your way out of there.  Or, well, have some fun exploring the oceans. :)  Not much in there currently though.

Haha the same thing happened to me a while ago, hope you have acid gills!
As Wanderer said, it does take a while to get back to your  boat,but if yyou head the right direction for a few chunks youll get outta there just fine.
