Title: Impossible to Progress
Post by: abdulmuhsee on June 12, 2013, 12:10:00 pm
So I just reached level 6 and went to Demonaica's Lair to unlock the level 3 spells, but when facing the henchman there, she is standing on a lava island with a low ceiling, making it absolutely impossible to jump to the other side without hitting the ceiling and sinking in the lava.  It doesn't matter how you jump short of finding a robotic research lab somewhere on the world map with the water dash feat, which I wouldn't be strong enough to get yet anyways.  I've tried multiple times and the world map morale is nearing 0.

It took a lot of effort getting this far on Master Hero difficulty and I'm a bit irritated that there is absolutely no way to progress beyond level 2 spells.

Hmmm -- if you zip and post your world file, I can take a look at it and potentially fix that for you.  Sounds like a very unlucky RNG situation.  Sorry about that!

Here's what I did: I obtained more feats in the caverns, maxed out my hearts and used a "better swimmer" upgrade, made sure I was at full health when I got to the lava pit, then managed to only burn through 4 hearts before I was able to reach the ladder inside the lava.  Still completely unfair.

There is also another area of Demonaica's Lair that requires at least a +15% jump bonus to get past, which would be fine if you knew that before slogging through two rooms full of hungry ghosts and giant shadow bats, only to be forced to take a poison pill or throw yourself on the thorns.  I mean, 4.6 hearts per hit from multiple giant shadow bats with their ultra-fast projectiles while being chased by hungry ghosts?  Give a guy a break.

Yikes -- the RNG really seems to hate you!  I'm glad you worked it out, but boy I've never had that much trouble with a sequence of rooms.  The RNG is occasionally mean like that, but generally we try to keep the slices clear so that super hard jumps like that don't get created.
