can't launch avww (crash error at launch)

everytime i launch avww, i get a crash error.
i've tried restarting my comp, uninstalling, reinstalling, and installing the steam and non-steam downloads, but i have come to no avail.
the crash error basically says

"oops
the game crashed.
the crash report folder named 'Crash_2012_06_02_101800' next to game
executable.
It would be great if you'd send it to the developer of the game!"

Any other details you can provide?  Usually when something like that happens, it's antivirus or antispyware being overzealous.  I'd try whitelisting AVWW with any such programs you have, and the problem will likely go away.  There are a few threads in the AI War subforum regarding Kaspersky in particular, and recently Norton has been giving problems to our games for some random reason.  There are a few other vendors as well, I seem to recall, but the problems come and go as those companies fix their bad detections and then a year or two later some other bad detection comes up.

uhm.

in steam, when i check for integrity of game cache in the properties menu, it says I'm missing one file
of course steam fixes it but after i run it, the game still crashes, and the file is missing again when i verify integrity of game cache

Could be that an antivirus program is deleting it

Just checking: does your computer get any random crashes or shutdowns?

I've checked my antivirus program as well as other programs but it doesn't look like those are what is causing this problem.

What AV program do you use? Have you tried whitelisting AVWW in that program?

oh, i also get this error

Hmmm, this might sound like an odd question, but, do you or anyone who uses your computer speak Korean? We've had issues with that in the past.

Also, if you aren't running anti-virus are you running any type of Anti-malware at all?

no one here speaks korean. (i've also read through those threads and those didn't help fix my problem)

i'm not running anything like that currently (just did a system restore to fix a browser problem)
