Title: Time Spent Collecting Consciousness Shards
Post by: tomsomething on July 08, 2012, 02:53:25 pm
How much of your playtime is spent collecting consciousness shards? The devs recently changed enchantment pickups so they are more powerful when the continent's level goes up, so they're definitely trying to keep us from having to hang back in the low levels and farm endlessly. But I still find myself going on several missions, exploring gem veins, raiding stashes, and after two hours I still don't have enough shards to buy a wind shelter or a covered farm. I know those g-scrolls can be picked up on some missions, but those are few and far between.

Am I doing something wrong? I feel like I shouldn't be spending this much time collecting shards.

I never do it. I pick up the ones that pop up during missions and exploration, but I never ever farm them.

Same. I just pick up shards as I go about other things and gradually amass tons of them.

Yeah, they're common enough that you get tons of them. Just remember that you're not really supposed to buy the REALLY spendy stuff in the store. Those things are there as an option only if the RNG REALLY hates you with mission seeding.

I feel like my number one limiting factor from progression is Wind Shelters.  I spent 95% of my time hunting for them and 95% of my shards saving up for them.

Yeah, generally, I've just got a goal I can reach without needing to buy stuff, and I go through a long sequence of those goals, until I finally get back to the settlement and find I have like four times as many as I need from obsessive killing and exploring and looting. Does that mean every moment I've spent with the game counts as time spent?
