What do you use for recording and editing software? I've wanted to make a lets play for some time but I don't have anything to record and edit with.

I use Fraps and Windows Live Movie Maker. Which I find work very well. I would like to achieve higher quality vids but the upload time is just too long.

I would suggest you record the game at 1280x720 for the standard 16:9 ratio, it best to set the game itself at the same resolution to get the best quility.

Try to giving DXtory (http://dxtory.com/v2-home-en.html) a try not only is it less resource intensive, but it has a lot more control in terms of recording options. Here is a Video that does a great job of explaining why it superior to fraps Fraps vs DXtory (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=3fZzXqZeKbs)

I just found Taski (http://taksi.sourceforge.net/). It's nice because it is free. I'll have to look into DXtory in a bit.

Hyfrydle -- where's the next episode? I'm anticipating it eagerly. Plus the game could really use a good updated Let's Play to go with its release.

Taksi is pretty nice for things, though unless they've updated the page for it there, it says it can't record sounds when it most certainly can.
