I don't have exact numbers, but we're about a third of the way there, ballpark.  I'd have to plug the stuff in to my spreadsheets to get the real number, but we're not really  very close yet and so I haven't made the time to do it.

Meanwhile, all of you who's excited to see solar systems could get a backerkit upgrade for your pledge like I did (I want to name a planet). It's been a while since the campaign ended so you probably got some spare money by now *wink-wink*. Seriously, I wouldn't mind if it was some stretch goal like fancy units or buildings but it's a core gameplay thing that's unlikely to be added on any later stage if not considered from the start. If we won't make it by May (if I'm not mistaken) the opportunity is just lost. The total is $102,485 at max (not every pledge is 100% applied to the stretch goal) so we need at least $10k more. Quite a bit but there's 2545 backers on KS alone so it's very possible!

Nope, that one is a no-go unfortunately. We were about halfway there, and I decided to cut that you for a couple of weeks ago. There was no way we were going to hit the goal, and we've already been adding in a lot of other things we had not promised, like formations of squads, etc. It's been a while since the last big announcement we made, mainly because we were trying to figure out what exactly our way forward to the finish line was going to be. We need more of a polish and completion period than an October release would allow for, but we had to figure out exact timetables and how to handle the inevitable questions, etc.

We have figured that stuff out now, but it's a matter of getting it all written up. I'm please with the plan we have, as it doesn't delay anyone actually getting their copy, even though the full steam release won't be until February or March. The idea is to have at least a month of very little changes where press can play it, and to have at least a month before that where hopefully our backers can widely play it and give feedback. So far we've had far too few testers since it hasn't been at the state it needs to be for that level of adoption.

Wow that was more of an info dump than intended. ;) Anyhow, we have a plan for all that stuff, but we need to write it up and right now I'm on mobile.

Well, we have the Dyson Sphere at least which is the closest to stars being part of the war (even if it technically is not a star itself).
On another side note, Solar System Wars would be an awesome name for the first expansion after release *wink wink*

Still, with as slow as new pledges are coming in, I'm not surprised it was cut (and a while ago).

I for one think a balanced/tuned/polished version of what we have now plus the stretch goals is going to be amazing. Solar Systems just feel like they make more sense as a follow on.
