I just feel like the tutorial should be opt-out instead of opt-in.

Would it do to have a prompt on the first time someone clicks "Campaign" that asks if they want to play the tutorial since its their first campaign? That way its still optional and might make more people consider doing it.
"Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the Star Ship Enterprise. It's continuing mission: to explore strange new worlds; to seek out new life and new civilisations; to boldly go where no one has gone before."

It would be better than just having it be a button most people will ignore.

Although I am still a really big fan of tutorials that seamlessly transition into the actual game, especially for games where just the tutorial is likely to be a several-hour undertaking.  :)

I feel a tutorial in the form of a campaign (not the normal ones, the kind where there is a story line that most strategy games have)would be best, that way people might actually play the tutorial because it is fun rather than just so they learn what to do.

I would absolutely love a real, RTS game-style campaign.

But I also understand that such things are an ~enormous~ undertaking in terms of how much work they require.

True, though it could also serve as a tutorial and a lot of people like game campaigns, maybe they could add it as a future expansion.

Just as a kind of side-note, should we make this into its own thread? Just some people might not be seeing it since we've really stopped talking about salvage and tutorials are an important thing in their own right :)

Perhaps, it is a completely different topic. I will make a thread.
