Third Art Look: A model!

Not to much depth to this post.

Just a video to give you guys a peek of the model and some idea of how it will be animated. :)

The colors are not permanent. Just a base.

Awesome job!

Just a quick remark: you don't show it top-down. That's kinda sad, because I bet this will be the most common angle ingame.

Looking good. I'm not a fan of the rings turning one way and the inner...sphere portion rotating the other way.  It just looks weird.

....I want to take this to Physics SE and get an answer on whether or not it would be more (or less) energy efficient....

(It isn't really "backup gravity": if one stops spinning it's still going to lose artificial gravity)

Quick note: this model is not for actual in-game usage during gameplay, so the view she's showing is probably the most common way you'll see it.  This is a "prestige model," as I'm calling them, which are extra-detailed models that are specifically for cutscenes and boxart and whatever else.  You'll see this sort of thing moving around live in the engine, sure, but mostly on something like the main menu.  Not big fleets of these.

Now, granted, you'll see a different lower-poly version of this general idea in the game itself.  But the actual in-game ship art will have a completely different style from the way we texture this one, most likely.  (We'll see on that.)

Think of this one as being more like animated boxart or 3D concept art.  Or a steam trading card in motion, etc, etc. ;)

The ship architecture is also strange, not like human tech in AI War 1. It's closer to Sp--......... huh. But not like the reg--huh.

Yeah, you're right, the rear "wheel" should be turning the other way.
