Oh, I forgot to reply to a couple of things:

1. The video notes in the bottom right what each section is, but some of them are sections where they are more from a "cinematic" angle in the asteroids, but using the actual graphics.  We'll do some of that for intro/ending, fun stuff like that.  Also that's fairly related to the little semi-easter-egg "you can shoot things and fly around directly" minigame that serves no point but is bubble-wrap-popping-fun that I'm sneaking in there with non-kickstarter money.

2. We're aiming for 11am EST for the launch on this.

3. Other videos are definitely planned, as we go, and those will be just "Chris talks about stuff and shows stuff," so inherently more personal.  I've thought about just doing some audio-only recordings to embed in the page on a sooner-than-later basis with me talking a bit about whatever topic.  Kinda mini-podcasty.  Not sure if there would be interest in that?

I believe both Android and Apple have apps for that.

Yeah, I've got Kickstarter on my tablet.

I'm pretty sure I've done it via just safari on my iphone, but I'm not positive.

Oh yeah, but the optimized mobile environment is nice. Except I can't get to collaborator options. Probably user error on my part though.

Random question:
Why $299,400?

That's what it's going to cost to make AIW II a reality?

Q: How much do you think it was going to cost to make the game?

Opened your save. My computer wept. Switched to the ST planet and ship icons filled my screen, so I zoomed out. Game told me that it _was_ totally zoomed out. You could seriously walk from one end of the inner grav well to the other without getting your feet cold.

(Very) Nitpicky video comment: The text labels on the starship scale segment move out of view a bit fast, especially on the spire shire at the end.

Otherwise looks great!

Haha. had the same question earlier from a friend. It's an oddly specific number.

Aka the video isn't about the kickstarter at all: it's about selling you on the idea of the game itself, and so the kickstarter gets about 4 seconds of mention at the end as the call to action (those do yield results as well, evidently).

Some screens are AI War Classic but don't see"AI War classic" written in the bottom / bottom right when the legends are (or in the middle).

I find the ship lights too bright and the ships themselves too dark. Its like they don't reflect light. I think it's worth putting a mention "ship models not definitive" in case of. The part of the video of the fighter fighting is gorgeous...

What the video sold me on first view is that it's a game where I'm a pilot in a ship / squad, and I can control territories too. Much like X3-reunion but with better UI to control what's not your ship. Is there a possibility to make clearer, from the start of the video, that you (as the player) are controlling an empire and not "only" a few ships ? Unless I've been mistaken on what AI War II is supposed to be.

Well. Assuming you'd agree it's probably way too late to change all of that. 3 minutes is good, length wise I think.

Thank you!

There are a few updates I'll be making based on the comments here.

That one is tricky, because it's such a gorgeous set of shots and I don't want to lose that wow factor at the start.  In fact I actually had it set up differently before where that came even faster, and my wife is urging me to go back to that because it had more of an oomph at the very start of the game.  I think she's right and I'm going to do that, and I hope that people don't get the wrong idea too much.  Maybe I'll have a brief note in there slightly later... I'm not sure.

The VA made it clear that the AI is playing chess and the player is playing grand strategy (paraphrasing). I think it is pretty clear you are not just controlling a few ships.
Life is short. Have fun.

If the video shows you flying around in a fighter, some people are going to expect to be able to do that no matter what the audio says.  The Internet never forgets, and it reacts badly when it thinks it's been mislead. See: No Mans Sky.

Honestly, there's large parts of the video that don't remind me of AI War at all. It needs to be made as clear as absolutely possible that dogfighting isn't actually in the game.

I understand that. The wow factor is kind of the selling point. Well if it's redone already. Point kind of moot. In any case, I think it's already planned that one of the KS "update" speaks in details about the grand strategy aspect.

The VA made it clear that the AI is playing chess and the player is playing grand strategy (paraphrasing). I think it is pretty clear you are not just controlling a few ships.

As far as I remember, it does, but around after 60 seconds or something. Early impressions are very important and I think it should be told from the start. Even a "dumb" subtitle like "AI War II, the next grand strategy title" could work, but could be very awkward "timing wise". When I made that comment I thought about what the voice-over stated, it says something in the likes of "your ships have to be hidden" or something, just changing this to "your faction" could work. Or not. I completely agree with Chris on the "it's tricky" part. Because it might just be that I, and I alone am wired to give myself this impression.

For example, I remember some thread in which some random guy complained about X-Com II character with cigars & cigarettes looking "cooler". My personal opinion is that they looked at best dumb and at worst sad (as did a part of the crowd that answered that topic), and that's due to personal history with that (aka family dying, becoming vegetables, or both). My point being that nothing's understood the same by 2 different people even if possible interpretations are generally close and the topic very clear.

I could go for long time on that subject but it's not the time, and I don't think it would interest anyone but me anyway.

Back to that... as stated above and as tridus said, the KS has to be clear on what it is, but it's very short till the start - and it's probably better to have a "full" video than last modifications that don't work. The context is pretty clear as is the second half of the video I think. Maybe as the focus of one of the first updates ? (just throwing ideas around)
