I'm ok with it being a Thing and getting posted, but it really needs to be put somewhere more visible than the KS updates.
KS updates is "hey backers, we're doing X" it doesn't actually draw more interest.
Actually, it's rather pushing me in the opposite direction.
Sounds like they gave up on the kickstarter more than anything else.
I already have serious worries about the tone of this forum and the comments that sound quite a lot like you're expecting a failure, and it's not really getting any better now.
The problem is, this kickstarter hasn't even ended yet, we have all put in so much work, and then you read comments like that, that make you question the commitment- like maybe Chris doesn't even want to make this game. Why should we all be busting our humps trying to sell this campaign when he's going to do that?
You're right, I don't know all the particulars of this new project proposal. But I think it's inappropriate at this time to do that in the middle of the campaign.
This, completely right.
Yet you don't even know what it is.
I'll tell you a bit about it. You play as the [redacted]. You [redacted]. It's kinda like [redacted].
Maybe I won't tell you about it after all.
And that's another problem. Note Cinth, I'm not targetting you in particular with this - you're just the latest example. But, during the month before the KS, there was a lot of discussions and transparency about how AI War II was made. These last days, there was a trend of topics by people from Arcen about stuff going "inside" but with "we won't tell about it" variations on it. Some teasing's fine, but IMO it's getting overboard, especially when it's talking about changing stuff that's in the design doc or "revealing" that you're actually NOT focussing on the KS the whole time.
First one being a proof that the project's not ready - bad for publicity - and "alpha-time" is kind of supposed to take care of that, and second one, I spoke about above.
Planning for other options ? Good. Speaking about it publicly during a PR campaign ? Not good. Speaking at length about doing stuff that's unrelated to the KS while it's not already successful ? Not very good.
