New Ark Visuals
« on: January 26, 2017, 08:06:28 pm »
I just noticed this video was posted on youtube yesterday.  Looking good so far.

Is there a reason it wasn't posted here or on the Kickstarter?

I'm trying to do roundup posts more like every week or so, to avoid flooding the kickstarter emails in particular.  There are actually a variety of new videos in the dev diary playlist that has unlisted videos but is public.  I think 4 or 5, can't recall.

Thanks for the quick reply.  Glad I subscribed to your youtube channel.

I don't know if this has been asked before but, are there any plans to make the AI command center mobile?  I think it would be interesting if there was an elusive AI option.  Would take effect primarily when you are attacking the AI homeworld and if it looks like the AI is going to lose it decides to retreat to friendly territory with it's remaining forces.  It would be slow of course.

Oo, that could be interesting :D Even if it wasn't something any AI could do, rather a specialised trait. Could change up the endgame a little :)

So if we get a roundup post every week or so, we should be due for one soon! Not that I'm impatient or anything. Nope.

Cheers guys. :)

In terms of the AI master controller being mobile, it starts out as not but then changes to be so after a certain about of taking a beating, as I understand it. :)  That's how we've been asked to do the art, anyhow.

I don't have time to do an update today, so I likely will on Monday or Tuesday at the latest.  But here's another tidbit: http://steamcommunity.com/app/40400/discussions/0/350540974015364704/?ctp=2#c135507403157948050

And as noted, there are a ton of unlisted videos already up there in the AI War 2 Dev Diary playlist on the arcen channel. :)

Just a wee question I commented on the video with (probably wasn't the best place to ask given you have so many other places to keep track of  :P )

Is there going to be anything distinguishing between different teams, or will that be down to the icons and emissions like with the smaller ships?

Sorry, I tend to miss comments on the videos in particular -- regarding teams, it's the icons and the trails, yep.  We thought about doing some team color stuff on the ships themselves, but that really messes with the ability to make awesome-looking ships.  The base colors of the ships then have to be pretty neutral to not clash with the team colors that would be added on, and that tends to get very boring fast.  So we made the call to use a fuller palette on the ships and thus have more personality with them, while keeping the exhausts and the icons as what indicates teams.

The Arks look fantastic. The orientation definitely has a Homeworld mothership feel. They are just oozing personality.

Blinking lights will look really cool. Or maybe little repair ships buzzing around when it gets damage.

The coolest thing would be tiny shadows in the windows. Then you could see your people running around in there.
