Ok, gotcha -- yes, pulsar tanks should stack quite happily.
And Vinco, no worries on the too much AIWC knowledge -- indeed, some of those things will shoot you in the foot.
And to be fair, you CAN still make economic stations into fortress worlds, but it just works differently now. You need to bring 1+ battlestations and citadels over to that economic command station, and then you're golden. As you capture more battlestations, you can theoretically lean less on military and logistical command stations, which you'll probably need more of in the early game. But then again... there are tradeoffs with all of them, and you may wind up re-speccing legitimately as you shift your empire from one mode of operation to another as the game progresses.
All those things with the economic powerhouses that also have a ton of turrets and whatever are still there in this game... and in fact even more powerful now. The tradeoffs and flexibility is just a lot higher, and it's all based around fleets now. It's almost like we'll need two sets of tutorials, one for people who know AIWC really well and another for people who don't know AIW at all.
We shall see; hopefully the tooltip changes and similar start making things make sense more immediately for folks.
