Not sure the strategy going on to get more visibility, but is anyone looking into putting a notification into AI War classic?

I suspect a large proportion of people who have the game would know nothing about the kickstarter campaign. So a notification (say in the lobby) of the game would be helpful for those that don't use the forums or have little to no cursory interest in browsing kickstarter.

Also given the natural length of the game I suspect most would play it on a weekend. Hence if would probably be a good idea to get it in today/tomorrow if possible.

There was one, actually.  I saw it.

In fact, if you go here:

You can see that there's a lot of news being picked up.

That's not in the game itself. This request is about a patch for Classic that adds a notice into the game, rather than just in Steam.

It's being planned already for AI War Classic and TLF.

That's good to hear. I assumed you'd be all over this type of thing, but just thought I'd ask just in case it was missed. :)

Just have to make sure those "updates" aren't hollow, ya know?

That means a bit of Keith's time working on some fixes.

Thats nice! I was not sure if you had the resources for that, but some (small) free patches together with the advertisement will make everyone happy;)

It would be good to also build the new installers for gog version of AI War (currently 7.061) and other of your games that haven't been updated for ages on gog. There is a lot of resentment there for delivering supposedly "unsupported versions of games" regardless of the provided auto-updater. It would be a positive sign for them.

Probably the most effective way to get visibility would be to get into one of those steam popups. Not sure how you'd do it other than with a sale, of course.

What Steam popups? The event ones?

Exactly. You won't get a significant portion of the bites, but it is another avenue to attempt. It cannot hurt. Even the title "AI War 2 kickstarter: Updates" would convey to those who don't watch that yes, there is a kickstarter.
Life is short. Have fun.

Something like an AI War Classic free-play weekend on Steam would probably draw attention as well, though I'm not sure what goes into putting on an event like that.

I'll be sure to forward that on to the rest of the team and make sure to announce stuff that way as much as I can. I just launched one for the HeadTalker campaign launch

I think that would draw attention, but I'm not sure it would be _good_ attention. AI War is extremely complex and giving it to a ton of casual players might not be the move we want to make. A sale might be better than free-play weekend.

You'd know better than I would, but I'm not sure you're in a position where *bad* attention is a thing. It's not like someone can pledge negative dollars on the kickstarter campaign, and someone talking about how they bounced off this strange free-play RTS space game with AI on Steam is just word-of-mouth advertising. Then just present AI War II as bigger, more stream-lined, and better.

Unrelated edit: I also posted a thread on the Dwarf Fortress/Bay12 Other Games forum. Absolutely no discussion has happened so far, but people have seen it, at least.

From what I'm seeing of the kickstarter statistics, it's not looking promising at the moment. :(

Not sure how much it will help, but is there any progress on this happening soon?

With 23 days left to go it would be a shame to miss doing this.
