When it came to turret placement in AIWC it was very important to be aware of the paths the AI fleet would take when it arrived on your planet. Could there be an interface option to project these paths for you as a HUD option?
All it would really need to do is display lines leading directly from wormholes to structures of interest. It would make sense for this to be a toggleable list of structures/points of interest for lines to be drawn to, as well as being able to select/deselect wormholes to draw from.
The benefit of this would be to make it simpler to view, at a glance, potential paths AI ships could take when they arrive, in order to better lay out your defenses appropriately.

Can you point me to that part of the design doc? That seems a pretty drastic change away from the wormhole mechanics (which I also know were definitely mentioned in the doc).

Section 13, under "AI Waves Updated" #3.
Rather than coming through wormholes OR space lanes -- which conventional attacks already do -- these waves will originate at a random point on the border of your gravity well.

Oh boy, that's scary. I guess this is a pretty redundant suggestion though.

It never hurts to put thoughts down though. If the planned model doesn't work, you suggestion might become relevant.
