Suddenly skill at this little minigame might become accidentally important for "optimal play."  That... would be very very bad.  :o
You mean exactly like Dungeon Keeper 2? Where the only way to win a battle in multiplayer was being good at the FPS game? ^^

Makes good sense on not mentioning it on the kickstarter page or any of those sorts of areas.  I wasn't really planning on it.  Again, this was mostly a "you did WHAT with my money?" sort of temperature check.  It's not like it's a lot of time/money in the grand scheme, but if there's time I'd like to do it.  It may well be a personal-time thing anyway, who knows.

And in Dungeon Keeper 2, I never played that one, but that sounds awful.

Direct control in DK2 wasn't necessary.  Yeah, there were things you could do that the creature AI couldn't do on its own, but you were forsaking tactical overview to micromanage a single unit.  It was more "fun" than "effective" most of the time.

(for example, in War for the Overworld I controlled some units manually to take out several traps in the location I needed to conquer, just because the AI was doing a bad job of it: walk over it, trigger it, get hurt, run away to heal, repeat.  Yes, eventually the combined might of several units would deal damage to it over time, but a single unit couldn't do much because it would only attack the trap a couple times, it would then reset, and the unit would forget it was there).

Yes it was. It most certainly was. In the single player game, no. Not in the campaign nor skirmish. Multiplayer? Uh yes. Don't do it and the enemy will obliterate your entire army with ONE unit.

Multiplayer DK seemed like pointless to me, the game design pointed to making it "loads of times of preparation" for a single battle. :-[

Yeah, that's that rather dumb sitcom featuring Jenifer Aniston's .... nevermind, not going there.

Opened your save. My computer wept. Switched to the ST planet and ship icons filled my screen, so I zoomed out. Game told me that it _was_ totally zoomed out. You could seriously walk from one end of the inner grav well to the other without getting your feet cold.

Nope. That's why my favorite genre is PvE RTS. That's why I loved AI War. That's why I'm here.

 ;)

The people that you play other games with, yes.
Not the kind who both have DKII and are interested in playing it in multiplayer though.
