Derelict Structures and Natural Phenomena (planet structures)

With the Discovery update, we'll have a lot of faction interaction and differing ship traits, new stats, etc. Not much for planets though. This is just a few ideas that have popped up for me. I believe some of these I could do in a mod, if anyone thinks they're worth doing.

Derelicts are meant to be neutral at game start, and simply captured and repaired like many other things. Natural Phenomena are not captured, and instead are simply invulnerable and apply their affects to everyone regardless.

Derelict Structures

Long Range Sensor Array: Gives scouting intel X hops out.

Derelict AI Guard Post: Just like the AIs, but slightly weaker to represent humanity not being able to perfectly fix it. Simply overlooked by the AI for more important business.

Orbital Shipyard: Can build Fleetships and/or Starships at a faster rate, and swarms of repair bots fix ships even while in active combat nearby.

Zenith Matter-Converter: Much like the Zenith Power Generator, except that vast power generation is instead used to create extra metal, essentially the opposite of normal Matter Converters. (I imagine the...energy amount for this is probably absurd, but hey, we have ships the size of moons).

Recycler Station: Meant to clear up a Kessler Syndrome of debris from the previous AI War, this increases salvage gained on this planet.

Neutral Phenomena

Gravitational Destabiliser: Invulnerable structure - so highly affected it seems immune to all weaponry. Lowers the Gravitic Exponent of all ships on this planet.

Junk field: Simply an enormous amount of scrap garbage, collected together. Is so thick it actually provides cloaking effect, but is quickly lost from firing. Tachyons can still sniff them out, though, through the literal rubbish.

Derelict Structures:

Ludicrous Range Observatory: One of the greatest scientific marvels, developed after the first AI War, this observatory will give you partial knowledge from neighbouring planets, but will not go over the normal cap. (The name is somewhat a reference, if poor, to the amusing names telescopes can sometimes show up with in reality).

Data Processor: Inspired by, but no where near matching, the AIs data centers from the previous war, this allows more turrets than normal to be controlled on this planet.

Natural Phenomena

Acid Cloud: This planet is enveloped in a massive cloud of acidic compounds. All ship armour thickness is reduced while on this planet, but acts normally elsewhere.

Extreme Ambient Energy: There is an incredible amount of ambient energy around this planet, but our collectors cannot harness this much. However, all ships on this planet will move faster; a result of overfeeding their engines. (This will actually affect you negatively defensively, as the AI will ALSO move faster!)

Rogue Mini AI Nest: Developed in the time between AI Wars, this is an experimental AI meant to avoid what caused the original uprising. Naturally, it failed. It will fight anyone on this planet, but considers leaving to be extremely risky, so will never do so. (Maybe make it invulnerable, so it's a constant threat. The nest, not the ships).

Derelict Structures

AI Network Fragmenter: Plays havoc on the AIs local networks on neighbouring planets, causing hacking actions on them to consume less points. (Strategic effect from tactical asset).

Doomsday Beam Cannon: A mad man's creation, using a star as a power source. Acts like a higher Mark of Beam Cannon, but costs no energy and requires no tech. We're not sure why the AI has ignored such a powerful weapon... (Basically the MK4 Beam Cannon from Classic. Maybe it should have an AIP cost...)

Missile Shield: A defense station with a rather large amount of flak cannons, dedicated to missile interception. Reduces damage taken by Missile type weapons in an area around it. (If you've seen Battlestar Galactica, imagine the flak field it puts up).

Natural Phenomena

Ludicrously Dense Gas Cloud: Of a density far exceeding all similar phenomena, this planet is enveloped in a gas cloud. This interferes with targeting and energy weapons, causing all weapons to do lower damage. (Shifts the planet towards attrition style, as they'll live longer to get these benefits).

Long Range Repair Station: Intended for maintenance on craft on long duration, long distance missions, this station will happily repair anyone who comes into range.
