petition to play as no-human faction

I have tried out this game and it's pretty cool for sure. I do desire, however, to play as other faction instead of simply human beings.
Well I know the background story proclaims that human are the only lifeforms in galaxy, still introducing different factions with different ships and abilities will make the game MUCH more fun.
In addition, I am tried of being humans, wanna be something else:)
Will appreciate a lot if this idea can be accepted.

Being able to play as other factions is probably out of scope for 1.0, but it's definitely something that we want to do, too!  Though there is going to be a mode where you can play with the Spire aliens as a major part of your forces, based on one of our kickstarter stretch goals that we reached.
