Just something that crossed my mind pondering how achievements could be leveraged to (ideally) also teach something about playing game:
How about adding a number of achievements for engaging various AI structures or (big) ships with their not or less ideal counter (only) in terms of dps or something similar.
This could encourage players to experiment with shiplines they would skip.
To accommodate compatibility with regard to the inevitable balance changes to shiplines the achievements could be coded to e.g. dps done by a single shiplines.
To encourage experimentation even further multiple levels (e.g. bronze to gold) could be added to find the next x best counters as well.
