Z Electric Bombers are To OP in Hands of AI
« on: November 14, 2010, 07:04:51 pm »
Seriously AI sending waves of 1,000 Z electric bombers?

No.

This has been a game ender for the previous 3 games in a row for me.  While i understand yes certain ships have a bonus against them, however i always seem to lack them in some form. So my fleets and turrets get massacred before i can do anything against it.

The ratio of electric bombers seems to have been excessive lately. Thankfully I haven't experienced 1k of them though. O.o;

I seem to remember this being fixed back in 3.xxx, perhaps it is making a comeback.

Have you considered using the schizophrenia AI modifier under AI options in the Lobby?

(when starting a new game obviously) It makes so the AI sends mixed waves rather than a homogeneous one. It might make defending against waves harder in general but it would be easier than getting a 1,000 Z electric bombers all at once I would think. It might be worth a try in the meantime.

These made pause my current campaign for at least an hour to analyze data and crunch numbers, they seriously gave me a hell of a ride.

I was busy conquering some planet and 10 ships caught my eye on a border world of mine, no worries 10 puny ships won't hold long there with 40 turrets + a fortress Mark I. Five minutes later, i check the galaxy map and see there's still like 6 ships remaining of the 10 and 50 more just warped in, what the...

I take a look and there were Z Electric Bombers Mk III,  i checked their stats:

1.1M Health / 9K Armor / Heavy Hull / 112K Damage.

After checking numbers and calculating multipliers I concluded that the only turret options were Basic Turrets or Heavy Beam Cannons.

The latter were too knowledge expensive so I turned to Basic Turrets (2250 to unlock Mk III is real nice and I NEEDED  those Mk III with my forces not there)

Later on I opened a Zenith Reserve V, and among the ships were 15 Z Electric Bombers Mk V, 4.5 M health / 250K damage / 8s Oo...

So 1000 of those...
What Mark were they?

In general, the level of complaining is driving Developer-Progress up and we're considering launching a wave ;)

Electric bombers have ridiculously strong health scaling and now there's no fleet ships that counter them.   Soooo yeah. Boned.

Botnet golems work tho.
