Usually official versions are two months apart, no closer.  There will always be small issues, in any game or product that is still living.  Our distributors get annoyed if we do official versions too quickly in succession (in mid 2009 we did them weekly, which was a stretch for all involved), and we'll put ourselves out of business if we chase those endlessly.

Most of the stuff on that list is pretty niche or specific to certain circumstances at this stage.  And also at this stage, if we don't get our butts moving on AVWW, we'll be out of business by the middle of this year, and then there's not going to be ANY significant work done on AI War (just whatever I feel like doing as a hobby while I do whatever day job I have to have).

We're not abandoning AI War, but it's going to be going back to the way it was during Tidalis's development or thereabouts.  That's the period where we have 3.060 and 3.120, and that's actually a favorite time period for a lot of folks in the history of AI War, I think.

Any vague idea when this might hit Steam (as pre-order?), so I can get my money over to you guys :)
(I used the demo-feature, tried defender-mode, you guys just dont have the method of payment I use on your site ....  :-\)

I expect it might have a lag of 4-5 business days with getting this to Steam.  Normally we're better coordinated with all our distributors, but this project has been... crazy.  And with the bug-chasing at the end, none of the distributors have known when to expect it from us for real, etc.  What a mess.

In the grand scheme, I guess it doesn't matter, as it will all be out within a few days of one another anyway, but it's not likely to be a unified release this time around, anyway.

Can't wait to see it released. We recently beat all the base game AI on Difficulty 9 and want to get the new updates and expansion before we start working on new AI.

Cool stuff!  It's going to be a lot harder on diff 9 in the new version, just to warn you, if you've been playing on 4.021.  The difficulty of the game had slid downwards since 3.0, and this ramps it back up to what it used to be, which is going to be something to watch out for. :)

Yea, Diff 9 has come down a bit in the last version, but in general you're in for a pretty intense scale of AI waves, etc ;)

Yeah, we have stayed of the betas but kept an eye on the changes as you released stuff. Will be very interesting to play all the new stuff and we welcome the challenge. Keep the good work up!

One last thing. Are we going to get one last RC to test for a few hours to make sure nothing major has been "broked" before handing it to distributors?

Nope, the next one will be the last one.  We've made almost not code changes, it's just been a few textural things, so it should be safe.

Sure thing. I'm really excited here. As soon as 5.0 comes out, I'll let my friend that I mentioned way back when that now is a good time to buy it.  :)

Looks like it just hit the in-game updater. Updates found:  'One official'

True, but it doesn't include the new musics for Light of the Spire. :(

Nope, we never do that through the in-game updater.  The 5.0 update actually doesn't include anything from LotS at all, it's just what you already had installed from the betas.  The full installer for LotS will be coming out tonight, along with the news posts and all that good stuff! :)

This is the sort of prerelease 5.0. The full version will hopefully come out later tonight. I guess take this time to make sure there are no game breaking bugs. (And by that I mean stops you from playing at all bugs)

EDIT: Ninja'd :P
