will AI build stuffs on a planet if theres only their com station left?

i ask this because I'm trying out snake type maps and each planet only has one wormhole. The problem is most of the time the generated map somehow generates AI on all adjacent nodes so i MUSt wipe all of them out else they'll come to me as long as i raised their AI progress.

should i just wipe everything out and leave their com station alone instead?

Comm station left alone will reinforce itself with AI ships. If you destroy all the WH guard posts (and other toys like spec ops guard posts) it should be only place that will get that ships - and that ships should be guarding it and should not attack unless provoked.

but if I just let the command station alone and go on raiding other gaalaxies so i wont increase their ai progress it might be possible for them to rebuild stuffs on that planet.

yet I can't destroy it because it would increase the AI. what should I do in this case?

it actually temps me to wipe out every single planet's comm station though. Else i have to move back and forth just to wipe the units while leaving the com station there so i wont increase the ai

I believe a command station will only ever support about 500 units (depending on your ship cap) so the AI will always opt to reinforce elsewhere once it reaches that threshold*. Those units will only attack you if you stray within their range, go for the comm station or due to border aggression, which will only ever be a fraction of the total force and fairly infrequently.

It's usually better not to incur the AI Progress unless you need to capture the system for strategic or tactical reasons, as at certain thresholds AI Progress increases will cause the AI to reinforce both more frequently and with higher Mk ships.




*Unless the AI can't reinforce anywhere at all, at which point it will start to build barracks and then carriers - but that's another story entirely!

You can also consider building a turret ball to kill the reinforcements as they dribble in.
