Wiki Todo Memo

Before I forget.

The wiki page about Core Shield Generator doesn't tell how many CSG has each network. While it's not very important for most of them, it may have some interest for the A-prime network. For instance, I'm in a game where I know the position of 2 A-prime, I think I've destroyed 3 of them ('cause I have 3 ARS, but maybe I've lost one), and there is still some planets unscouted, so I can't tell if I'll need to take the two A-prime I spotted because there is still one in the fog, or if I'll need to take only one of them. (And that's why I came to the wiki and noted the information wasn't here).

So I'll make some tests (generate some no-FoW maps and count CSGs) and fill in the wiki. Also, maybe the number of CSG per network depends on the number of planets and/or players... So if someone knows it for sure, feel free to report there (or best: directly update the wiki). I'm a bit tired now (and my English may get faulty, so no wiki-edit tonight) ; I'll do it latter if nobody do it before. I saved the game just before committing myself to the endgame by taking these last remote A-prime, and it's during my before-save-and-quit planning that I realized I didn't know for sure how many CSG there is in the A-prime network. Then wiki, then forum ; you know the end of the story.

Sorry for the raving (I'm tired, you know, I know you know...)
Thanks for listening the ol' man.

I might be wrong, but here are the assumptions I work under:
- There are five networks.
- Every planet, except for player and AI homeworlds, has a CSG.
- Each network has a roughly equal number of CSGs.

Doing the math...
40 planet map = 37 CSGs = Some networks have 7, some have 8.
80 planet map = 77 CSGs = Some networks have 15, some have 16.

Hmm.  Giving that more thought, that does sound very wrong.  That sounds like an awful lot of A-network planets.  I'm just not sure which part of it I'm wrong about!  After all, after you take a single planet, there's suddenly going to be a lot of non-networked planets on the map.

The planets with nothing of significant note do not even hold a CSG on them, the last time I used those. But that was not a recent time.

Then is the number of CSGs of each network tied explicitly to the number of existing thing that that network is assigned to protect?

At the very least for the original question, it seems like it's really asking "how many ARSes are in this game".

Wiki edited. I just added the placement rules of each networks (A-prime with ARS, B with AdvFacto/AdvSC, C with Core builders, etc) but I still needs data on quantities.

AFAIK, on a 80 planets / 1 player / 1 homeworld setup, there is always 5 A-prime, 4 B, more than a dozen of C (varying between 14 and 18 at least, maybe wider), and a dozen of D and E (I often have 11 of each). I needs to confirm this and checkout for a different number of planets and players (and homeworld, maybe).

Anyway, thanks a lot. Keep searching!

If I remember correctly, the numbers are:
5 CSG-As on the ARS worlds.
4+ CSG-Bs, on the worlds with Advanced Factories or Advanced Starship Constructors.  IIRC, you get 2 AFs and 2 ASCs (1 per AI player) for each human homeworld, up to 8 of each?  Not sure what the cap is, sorry.
X CSG-Cs, on the worlds with Fabricators.  This should be a known number (Turrets + some roughly fixed number of ships) but I do not remember, and cannot find the thread that discussed it long ago.
Y CSG-Ds on the worlds that would have Counterattack Posts if those are enabled.  There is no limit to this - I've seen 1 in a galaxy of 100 stars, and I've seen 30+.
Z CSG-Es on some number of worlds, but I have no idea what the criteria are.

If a given system meets more than one criteria, it goes with the higher letter - A over B, B over C, etc.
