Will ship values on the wiki ever get replaced with the new ones? The wiki makes reference to the old crystal resource and ships still use their inflated damage, armor, and health values on the wiki. It really makes the wiki uninformative when trying to look up very specific things not found in the ship directory ingame (F1) like modules for ships or the effects of a spawned ship like the lightning missile launching ship.

Well, it's not something I'm focusing on... Probably should be done sooner rather than later though, you're right.

Hey! Just chiming in to let you know that you're doing good work! ;)

I'd help you, but I'm still a rookie in both Arcen games I own (AI War and TLF). But if there's some braindead work (which can be split up into small daily parts ideally) that needs to be done,  tell me!

Thank you.
I think the more important thing you can do is to tell us what you think of the wiki, what should be updated first (or at all) and if proposed modifications are better or worst than the original. For instance, I made a proposal for reorganizing the front page to put strategic advises aside and highlight facts: link. I am really hesitant and I don't know if it's a true better. I'd really appreciate if some pals would tell me yep/nope.
Please excuse my english: I'm not a native speaker. Don't hesitate to correct me.

Looks good. The current "how to do <specific energy related thing>" could as well be linked beneath a more general article about energy (for example) in their own section called "further reading" or something along those lines. Right now multiple articles linked in the AI war main page look like "Cloaking: <specific thing>, Cloaking: <another specific thing>" which could be gathered in a article specifically about Cloaking for example IMO

Your proposal definitely looks better structured in my opinion.

I'll have a closer look later...

Hey guys. Just got the email.

I was working for a while on trying to write a quick little java program to create the wiki tables for ships (part of why I stopped updating, that and college got a little out of hand).

Besides that, what can I direct myself towards? (I'm not sure what all you have done and are working on and what not to touch.)

Honestly... everything. I'll need to take a day to look over ship types, because I think having a handful of pages for types of ship classes would be a lot more useful than a page for every ship.

Out of curiosity, were there any ships that had a notably higher crystal cost than metal? Or vice versa? This thread got me thinking about an AI War legacy system document, but if we want to do that we have to collate as much of that information now, before we start making changes to one of the places where that might be stored.

Yes, there were. The standard Bomber, for one. Also some of the starships if my memory serves me well.

The Ships and Structures page has a list of the fleet ships divided up by role. You might start there.

However, I am of the opinion that you probably shouldn't drop all the ship types within a role onto the same page. It'll make it more difficult to find that specific ship type, which will make the wiki a bit more difficult to use, and some ship types would likely be listed in multiple locations. It'll also clutter the pages with stat blocks, which you'll have to dig through looking for the ship you want.

There also used to be a script somewhere for updating the wiki's ship statistics; I think Diazo made it. I'll see if I can dig it up and link to it.

Oh, I wasn't planning on putting everything on a few pages, I'm looking for a happy middleground between that and "everything on its own page" which leads to a lot of stubs and mind-numbing lists. Might be that there is no such thing, of course.  ::)

Anyway, thanks for the info. I'll check to see if the current pages still mark that.

If by 'that' you're referring to the Ships and Structures page, then yes, they still link to it; it's the link at the top of the box listing the links to all the other ship and structure pages.

If 'that' refers to crystal, then it depends. Some of the pages seem to have been updated since the removal of crystal, others seem not to have been. Also, there was a trend prior to the removal of crystal towards evening out the metal and crystal costs of ships, if I recall correctly.

Also, regarding the script, it's mentioned here. I thought it had been uploaded somewhere, but I'm not currently having any luck tracking it down.

Meant crystal, sorry, and you're right, the update levels are really uneven. I remember someone mentioning they were democratizing the wiki to avoid having to redo it every few updates, so I shouldn't be surprised there's a reason for it.

I keep forgetting that there's multiple pages to the infobox.  :-[

So the stat levels for the ships, we're using the "Normal" shipcap, right?

Haven't made much (any) progress on wiki work this week, for work and beta reasons. I also realized that I haven't actually played much of the content that's been added since CotN, so I'm midway through a probably failing AS campaign. Hard Superweapons when you don't plan to use superweapons is hardly the greatest idea.

That would make sense.

Old wiki-editor here, though real life has me pretty tied up 'til late in the year.

A little history: The tables with ship stats on all the individual ship pages were created by Diazo/Dazio (Diazo on the wiki, Dazio on the forums), who made a script that generated them automatically.  I haven't seen Diazo around for a while, but you could try sending a message to maybe borrow the script or something.  Or if you want to update by hand, you might find my spreadsheet helpful, as it has stats for most Mark I ships, and higher marks nearly always scale proportionally to mark.  There actually aren't too many ships whose stats have changed since the script was last run, apart from the metal and crystal consolidation and the lopping off of two zeroes from all shot damage, armor, armor piercing, and hit point values.  Most (all?) of the ships that have changed are either superweapons or else mentioned in these patch notes.

So the stat levels for the ships, we're using the "Normal" shipcap, right?
That would make sense.
Yep, consistent with my spreadsheet.  The patch notes tend to refer to high caps, which I believe is the "official" balance point.
