Why all the random numbers?
« on: March 10, 2010, 07:41:21 pm »
I'm ok with all those small ships, or attack, or range with random numbers cause they're small, but the most funny one is zenith starship 7,312,500  health and spire 6,337,500  health i mean it's funny, AND I suppose you test it like many many times and got up with this number, but why?

I'm not sure what to tell you... those are the numbers that feel right, and are often multiples of smaller numbers.  Not sure what sort of answer you're expecting.

why not just 6,000,000 a whole number.

especially since you got a extra 500 health in a 6 million health ship

let me put it this way, 500 extra health on a eye bot = extra 1/3 health
extra 500 health on spire = extra 0.0000000000000000001 health(i made that up)

even if you nerf the health down, it will lool pretty cool as long it's not rounded to the hundreds

What's the attraction of big round numbers?  I like things that are a tad uneven, they seem more real and more thought-through (and often they are, here and elsewhere).  Big round numbers make me nervous. ;)

at least delete the 500 health? the only ships that have health in hundreds are really weak ones though saying that to a spire is kind of ironic. maybe you should keep it taht way  :)

Delete the 500 health!?! Are you insane? :o

if you dont like the 500 there then 500 has to be added. it only makes sense.

Nitpicking is one thing, but this isnt even nitpicking. The amount of HP of those ships is not a mistake to be corrected - its just the number he chose. Probably better to spend time thinking up and posting topics with actual gameplay-relevant suggestions.  :D

That's true on the one hand, but it's like in SC:FA. The Galactic Colossus had 99,999 health. Grr, gets on the nerves of nitpickers geeks like us!
Avid League player and apparently back from the dead!

If we weren't going for your money, you wouldn't have gotten as much value for it!

Oh, wait... *causation loop detonates*

We can't just ask for the 500 health, that will buff the starship waaaay too much.

But there isn't any actual gameplay relevant suggestions, everything is AWESOME, also i'm just bored and CURIOUS why, it's not a bug, it's like an article, it tells you a lot of gameplay inrelevant stuff but very intersting stuff.

Humans are drawn to symmetry everywhere, including round numbers :P

I agree, the odd health totals do look strange on the larger ships

I propose the Zenith starship gains exactly 42 hit points, just to screw with people :)

Its health would then be: 7,312,542

how about a decimal with fractions, radicals and imaginary number i, so the health looks like a math equation ;D

Lol, we often don't even realize what the numbers will be; there are wide-scale modifiers like *5 health to most things later on in the stat calculations.
