making a wormhole  - http://arcengames.com/forums/index.php/topic,5160.0.html - Jabbahutt
I'm sorry but that happens to be my thread, thanks for recommending it though ;)

Jabba is using the correct format. The username is meant to keep track of who the nominator was as you only get one nomination per week. For example I nominated Flak Turrets for the last poll but the idea was masterminded and polished by superking.

Its my understanding that the choice of format was for HellishFiend's convenience so who originally came up with the idea is less important than keeping track of the nominator.

Though Winter Born's nomination this week might be a good example to follow if HellishFiend doesn't mind.

Absolutely, I have no problem with nominators giving props where due.

On an unrelated note, I'd also like to stress that there is no shame in nominating your own suggestion topics. A few people have voiced concerns about that, but there is nothing wrong with it at all.  :)

I'd like to nominate the jump drive / human warp gate / wormhole creation idea, as I've seen a few similar topics on here in the last few months and I had the very same idea myself a while back. I've listed the three threads I can remember but they all centre around variations on the same mechanic and, frankly, I couldn't give a monkeys which implementation sees the light of day - it's the concept I'm nominating!
 :)

zebramatt - Jump Drives(Voodoomancer) {also, Jump Gates(zebramatt)}
 - Human Warp Gates(Par4sitic)
 - Wormhole Creation(rubikscube)

no. credit should be given to the one who came up with the idea, not the one who liked it enough to nominate it.

This isn't about giving credit to people, it's about one nomination per person. Assuming the idea is liked (and voted for) enough to be implemented, credit would be given to the person who originally suggested it, unless the idea morphed significantly since then. Arcen certainly isn't stingy about giving credit to others, so I don't think this is an issue at all.

Yes, if anyone feels credit (in the in-game credits, release notes, etc) was not given to the appropriate person, please feel free to ask.  We try to be conscientious about it, but we're really really busy and sometimes something slips.  If you'd prefer it not be public communication please feel free to PM me.

My thoughts exactly. If people want, they are more than welcome to include credit to the OP with their nomination, and I will include it in the poll topics. But if people stop including their name with the nomination, that just adds another step to the process of creating the poll topics, since I have to make sure we stick to the one nomination/user/week system.

when you opt to use somebodies forum, it is common courtesy to follow any rules and guidelines they wish enforced regardless of whether you personally see the need  :P

It allows for a single copy-paste rather than two.  HF is graciously coordinating these polls and doing the textual footwork, and he is also very strapped for time IRL, so small things like this help make it easier for him.

I am asking you to be at least a little more polite than that in the future.
