Where to begin?
« on: August 08, 2012, 11:08:38 pm »
So one of the main things that caused me to quit is I could never find a mode that didn't feel too grindy/scattered/hard/easy, so I'm looking for suggestions on where to start. Keep in mind I'm trying the new expansion beta demo and I'll only have the first 3 hours :)

Actually, I'd say jump in and start flailing. Your feedback as a returning player coming in semi-raw could generate helpful feedback and discussion fodder on its own.

Sounds good to me. I got a normal conquest map going and I'm picking laser gatlings since I remember them being fun/OP, so we'll see where this gets me :)

Set some goal for yourself like "Hack all 5 ARS's" and see how bad you die ;)

I'll just start dumping my thoughts in here.

 * I was trying to read a tooltip on a moving Zenith starship, but I couldn't select it to keep the tooltip up and it was hard to find it's icon in the sidebar.
 * It took me forever* to find the Hull type on a tooltip, and I would go for a photoshop to try and clean up the design but I couldn't find the screenshot button in Key config (and ofc printscreen is broken)

*not actually forever

Note that the Steam screenshot key is also F12 and overwrites the AIWar one.

If you are running Steam and hit F12, the screenshot goes into Steams screenshot thingy, no copy is made in the AIWar Screenshot folder.

I rebound AIWars screenshot key to F11 to get around this issue.

I play the Steam version of AI War and I use F12 to take screenshots. All screenshots are saved into "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ai war fleet command\RuntimeData\Screenshots" folder.

When you hit F12 you don't get the little Steam pop-up in the bottom right corner saying Steam has taken a screen shot?

Can you check what your Steam screenshot key is bound to? This is now sounding like my Steam screenshot key is not at default somehow.

I do get the Steam message that screenshot has been taken yes. And my Steam screenshot key is F12.
EDIT: Also when I close AI War I get the Steam screenshot manager thing where I can upload or delete the screenshots.
