I have always supported using big flashing brackets around the wormhole.

Something like this, maybe a few circles radiating out from the wormhole

That is indeed hard to see the difference...

Why not a hybrid of the two colors? A red-yellow? Ideally, it should still be yellow enough so that they still look different to normal wormholes to those with red-green colorblindness, but still be red enough to look different to those who don't have it.l

This would be on top of an additional visual cue (like concentric circles or a "halo" or something)

Why not alternate blinking between red and yellow?  Best of both worlds ;p

Why not just plain blinking, which should be visible even to someone with vision only in gray-scale? For dogs that play AI War I guess.

That's...not quite how color blindness works.

A red-green blink, to someone with color blindness, isn't a blink, it's a solid color state.

(Unless I misunderstood what you meant)

Blinking as in darker shade, lighter shade. Not differing colors. Differing lightness. Otherwise my grey-scale comparison wouldn't have made any sense.

Personally I think it should make the wormhole neon pink.

That would make everyone happy, right?  :p

Works for me. In any game that gives me an option of color, I always go with the most garish pink available. Team color, unit color, flag color, whatever. I started doing it to lightly troll people in online games, and now it's just become a habit for any game.

I'd really prefer brackets over blinking. There's enough visual stimulation going on already, IMO. I earlier provided a simple mod with a targeting ring around the affected wormhole, which inspired me to write a general brackets Mantis here:

It's for brackets around important stuff (especially differentiating guard posts which all look like turkey tails), but feel free to amend it/plunder the idea for your own purposes!

There's a thread somewhere around here that had a few different types of 'replacement art', including one I made and still use, to help see the inbound wormhole better.  I just can't find the frickin' thing.
... and then we'll have cake.

Maybe the thread title needs some blinking brackets aroun-*hit by thing on your foot*
