When did advanced warp detection become so difficult to see?
« on: August 01, 2012, 03:10:33 pm »
Is this normal?  I swear just a few patches ago the wormhole the impending wave was about to come through was bright red.  Now it's hard for me to tell the difference at all (sometimes I can't).

Well, you can bring up the planetary map overlay (hold T in the default key mapping), and the wormhole flagged will be blinking.

On this issue, when the fix to make the flagged wormholes yellow instead of red (to help those with red-green colorblindness), only the close zoom sprites got changed to yellow while flagged. The far zoom wormhole sprites are still red, that should probably be fixed.

It looks like the wave is coming from Murdoch. The background might be messing with the wormhole though.
Anyway it should be red.

It's a brownish red, not a bright red. For "us" with green/red deficiency, it's very hard to tell the difference. But if you just zoom in, you'll see it. Also, it will blink on the "macro map".

I can't find the issue (I swear I saw it on mantis), but someone suggested a totally new graphical warning circling the warp point when a wave is detected incoming.  I heartily support that suggestion.

Something like four arrows circling in the same direction or something would be nice.  In other words, if you only saw the world in black and white you could still tell what was going on at a glance.

Looking at the screenshot I honestly cannot tell which wormhole is the one the wave's coming from.

And I'm not colorblind (any colors)

It's Murdoch. In that screenshot Murdoch's wormhole is a bit yellowish.

Of course it's Murdoch.  It's ALWAYS Murdoch.  xD

More seriously: Some sort of graphic thing like blinking arrows would be awesome, as the yellow is definitely harder to tell apart from the normal green.

Perhaps the indicator of what wormhole it's coming through is the text saying "Murdoch" ;)

More seriously, I've attached the two far-zoom images for the wormholes, the first one is green for normal wormholes and the second is yellow for "active" wormholes.

Lol, ironically in an effort to change the game to be more friendly to a few colorblind people, it's become significantly more difficult for everybody else ;p

Preeeetty much.
I'd suggest another settings toggle, but I know how difficult those are to implement.
(I'm still going to suggest it anyway)

I have always supported using big flashing brackets around the wormhole.

I object to ASCII art. If it needs to be more obvious, I don't mind a graphical change.
