Fallen Spire Exo-Galactic Strike Force question
« on: August 26, 2011, 09:13:06 pm »
Preparing for a Fallen Spire Campaign. Not sure about how the these special warps work. Do they work the same way as normal warps do, in that the AI will warp from any adjacent warp gate as long as they exist? So I can narrow down their targets to one wormhole if I destroy all other adjacent warpgates?

Thanks.

Each battlegroup in an event armada will spawn at a warp gate of some description, rather than at a wormhole on one of your planets.  Generally the warp gate chosen will be within 1 or 2 hops of the battlegroup's target (either an object that it's chasing or one of your command stations).  So to some extent their like a wave when you have no warp-targetable planets or play with Cross-planet-waves.

But in practice exos feel very different from other attacks for a variety of reasons.  You'll see ;)

That was fun.

So, I've got these shiny new Spire facilities...a City, a Reactor, a Shipyward and Habitation center...and...not sure what to do. I suppose I could continue letting the AI pound on my doorstep, but I'm convinced thats not right.

The most recent journal entry should give you a pointer there.  If you haven't gotten the next signal it may be because you haven't cleared the AI off all the planets adjacent to the city.

Have fun storming the castle!  Well, I guess it's often more like defending the castle, but you get the idea.

And yea, you're not the only one to get stuck at that point and ask what was going on and have it be needing to clear out those bordering planets.  Basically one of the thrusts of the campaign design is to make you take a possibly-punishing quantity of territory so the AI gets good and annoyed at you, in addition to all the other forms of brand new AI-annoyance involved in the process ;)

Ai war devs: Giggling like evil vindictive schoolgirls every time someone boots up a fallen spire campaign.  :D

Notice how he doesn't deny the part about being evil, though.

Or the schoolgirl part, for that matter...
