What's the formula for CPA size?
« on: January 16, 2011, 11:21:48 am »
Hope it's not a trade secret.

Basically, I'm playing a low-cap game with diff 5 Easier AIs and getting CPAs of ~900 mostly Mark II ships at an AIP of 220.  Is this how it's supposed to be?  I can't handle this, not even with all my ships, and I've had to resort to save-scumming to avoid them.  :(  Is this how it's supposed to be?

Don't panic too much. Those 900 ships are probably not going to come all at the same time. Rather, they will trickle into your systems in smaller chunks.

However, 900 at AIP 220 seems pretty tame, but that is probably because I don't play below difficulty 7. I am used to 1200 or more sized CPAs once I reach that stage of the game.   ;)

Anyways, you can find a lot of wave related calculations here, but I don't see anything on that page about CPAs. Maybe that should be added.

EDIT: Oh, what kind of AI's are you playing against? Some AIs give some nasty multipliers to wave sizes, even on lower difficulty levels.

OK, I tried out the formula on the wiki and got 880 which is what I'm getting... except I don't see where it's adjusted for ship cap. I'm playing on low, so I only have ~650 ships to counter them with... not enough.  Also, I'm playing a blitz game so they do pretty much all come at one.

Uh oh, is it not being adjusted for ship cap? That might be an issue.

EDIT: Can someone confirm this? If so, it needs to go onto Mantis.

I made a bug report and attached a save game for it.
