Anyway...  SS of the state of the game.
My first question was whether the white names were unscouted, or already destroyed ;)

Not scouted.  This game is a far cry form my norm.  Also, no champion, no nothing.  Right now all the action is happening on Murdoch.

Opened your save. My computer wept. Switched to the ST planet and ship icons filled my screen, so I zoomed out. Game told me that it _was_ totally zoomed out. You could seriously walk from one end of the inner grav well to the other without getting your feet cold.

I just sunk my teeth into System Shock (yes, the very first one) and it's making my crap my pants repeatedly, so in order to prevent a laundry bill that is huge, I'll probably jump on this one and give SS a break :)

7/7 Random Moderate/Easier. Complex ship types with no mines, cloaking, or teleporting. Clusters - Simple map, no minor factions, modifiers, and only the Hybrid Hives at 4/10 for plots. Taking Chameleons because I should be able to deploy them as guerrila snipers.

Heh, Zombards and shield bearers.  Apparently the AI got the memo that it was going to get a fair shot at me.

Heh.

This is very different then my normal also.

Only 2 hours in and I've already captured 8 worlds.

Normally at 2 hours in I have only 2 or maybe 3 worlds captured.

Also changes my priorities, normally I fort up to survive what the AI throws at me, this game has been all offense to ruin the AI's day before it can ruin mine.

Although I will have to stop and fortify now, average size waves are up into the 500 range and just had a laser gatling wave of over 900 with an AIP of 210.

I did roll a lattice map but thankfully I've got some chokepoints I can setup forts on to defend with.

I'll get a screenshot up later, have to run out now.

D.

You said no superweapons, and so I didn't turn those on.  Except I forgot and left Zenith Trader on.  Does the Super Fort count?  I'll scrap it if you think it isn't fair :) .

Given what the AI gets from the trader, a superfortress probably isn't wrong to have.

This sounds fun. Also, please look at my resource bar. That's with harvester economic upgrades and all economy stations except for the center planet. I'm serious crying poor when it comes to my economy.

You can probably take the III conventionally.  Nuke the IV.  Play like someone stuck tape over the AIP gauge.

I don't normally think of the ZT as a superweapon, but I guess it kind of is (at least, a chokepoint with all the trader toys is substantially more robust than one without).  Anyway, a range of experiences is good here, so keep the fort :)

I hear the AI is sitting on lots of delicious resource nodes that are just begging to be harvested.

Out of curiousity Keith, how would you feel of a multiplayer trial of this?  Back in the past we've done games at 7 taking every single planet but that was waaay back in the days of yore.  Would be interesting to try it now (we play with 3 players), my general feel is that multiplayer is much easier than single player for high AIP.

Are you the folks that played with one person handling defense, one person handling offense, and another... I forget what the third one did.  Anyway, there was a group doing that and just walking all over the game like they owned it or something ;)

Anyway, yea, that'd be fun to see :)

MP is generally tremendously in favor of the human-side if the human-side is well coordinated and so on.  Without said coordination the chance of lethal hilarity is very high.

And actually a very entertaining (to me) variant of this thread's idea is to have 2+ people playing in MP with the goal of getting the other player killed first.  I assume high AIP would be involved.

That would just be a race to nuke all your allied planets before he/she did the same to you. Without supply anywhere, they can't do anything, and with no ffs protecting home command...

But then there would be the race to get non-home planets, trying to intercept the warheads...

That would actually be quite fun at low difficulties (high it's just a matter of who the AI targets first).
If warheads can't solve it, use more warheads.

Yeah, that's probably us.  We keep our fronts limited to 3 at most and build ridiculous defenses at them and since we have three separate fleets and we're all in the same room to talk to each other it's very easy to coordinate.

Anyway we'll try it out on a 120 and see if we can take them all :)
