I've figured it out! (homeworlds, where they are).

They're always as far away as possible! I realised this as I noticed the homeworlds are both TWENTY ONE hops away. Sweet jebus.

Well, that now makes it easy to find them and send your fleet at them... LOL

Unless, of course, the map is perfectly set up to have a LOT of worlds at the same, maximum distance.

Typically there are several worlds at a similarish distance, which can make it hard even for me to predict.  I know the exact algorithm, and on most maps I guess right only around 30% of the time.  Even then, the tough part is actually getting over there.

But, there are some changes planned for the homeworld placement logic, eRa brought up some suggestions about it a while back (that the two should never be together), and then this from liq3, are making it so that I'm planning on some changes.
