Hi,
I've been playing strategy and war games for 20yrs and have only rarely been grabbed by a game so quickly. I am so pleased that this game has been developed as it is fantastic. The depth and breadth of strategy the player can adopt is astonishing and I haven't really scratched the surface yet. After playing "most" computer strategy games for a while, it's likely the human player can figure out weaknesses in the AI or game design to help win more easily. Based on what little I do know so far of this game and comments made by so many people in these forums, it seems there's no simple one shot strategy you can use to win. What a refreshing change!
I have only been playing with AI War for a few days, having gone through the tutorials a couple of times to help with the learning curve and spent some time on the wiki to learn the theory. I honestly thought this would be another 4X game, but with a few interesting tweaks on the format to make it different to the many others out there. How wrong I was!! There's still a lot I don't know about the main game yet and I'm eyeing up the expansions with a view to taking the plunge with those too.
So far, it's been a lot of fun. I'm no armchair general, despite having played these sorts of games for a long time and I can see I'll be getting beat fairly regularly hehe. It looks like I'm going to get a lot of play time out of this game and whatever expansions are released.
Thanks for a great game
All the best,
Leaston
