Formation of movement
« on: January 01, 2017, 09:27:56 pm »
So, I just discovered that the "make offset stick" option in Control Group Specific setting doesn't quite work. I assumed that it works similar to pressing J while moving, but this option does not actually maintain a formation.

Although the wiki claims that it is fine to just use group move, I find that for any of my main fleet(with or without regional effects like shields, protection, tachyon coverage, etc) survive much better if it can push through wormholes in less than 2 seconds. For the same reason, I find that Auto Kite is devastating(for my fleet) if I am actually controlling my blob(although it is useful when I spem Youngslings).

Looks like my fleet totally flavors range + alpha... Not sure if others are like that.

I've never tried using the "make offset stick" option. Whenever I want my ships, warheads, etc to stay together and in formation I just hold J (formation move) and G (group move) and then order to move. For example if I'm moving a column of Cloaker Starships and Warhead through AI planets it's critical that the Warheads and Cloaker Starships stay in same positions. 2 Cloaker Starships, one in front and one in rear and warheads in between. That way the warheads will stay cloaked even when going through wormholes.
set /A diff=10
if %diff%==max (
   set /A me=:)
) else (
   set /A me=SadPanda
)

I found that most of the time the offset option works, but sometimes(and guarenteed the worst time) it doesn't work and things disperse, and fleet goes boom.
