Alt Planet Names and Speed (New engine questions)
« on: November 25, 2010, 12:25:15 pm »
Is that functionality still there ?

We created a new game last night after doing all the updates and it did not work.

Also there's this new speed thing for regular, or Epic. What was the old default ?

Epic is the old normal or default, Normal is the old faster, and Blitz is essentially 4x as fast as the old default. (or 2x as fast as the old faster)

I still see the text file for the alt planet names but I never used them so I don't know if it still works or not.

Edit: I found this on the wiki but I don't know how current the instructions are: http://www.arcengames.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=AI_War_-_Alternate_Planet_Names

So that's why all of my games have a planet "Murdoch" in them. I wasn't aware AI Wars used that file as a matter of course. *debates changing or leaving it

Is there a list for the regular names somewhere?

As in, the other randomly generated names?  I don't think there is one.  :p
I'd take a sea worm any time over a hundred emotionless spinning carriers.

The regular randomly generated names aren't from a list, they are created from lists of syllables that are internal to the game (with logic for cropping out things like triple-letters, etc).  Murdoch is an example name, and is the only one loaded off a list by default.

I kind of expected that to be the case when I couldn't find a list file anywhere. I actually like a lot of the names it comes up with so that's why I asked.
