I've been reading a lot of talk about spirecraft and such and even though the expansion is still in beta, I would like to buy it already anyway(I'm not satisfied with just the trial, that's too short). However, the only options to buy it in the store of the arcen website is with either a creditcard or with paypal... and I have neither (for some reason, paypal won't work for me. perhaps the fact that i live in the netherlands has something to do with that?). I'm sure the expansion will be released in steam as well eventually, but I don't know when and I'm kinda impatient :P
so I was wondering if there is any other way to get the expansion? I purchase all my steam games through ClickAndBuy, perhaps that could be added as an option to purchase games from your website? please let me know.

thx in advance

I too would like too pre-buy the latest to be released expansion on steam. Though, I can wait as I doubt it will be done; its not a priority.

  • And he sayeth to sea worm, thou shalt wriggle
It will be officially released on Steam in January of 2011, in case you wanted to know.  I'm sure he'll drop by and comment on the latter.  ;)

I think that the release version of LotS should be ready in a month...I forget the exact date, but it's right around there.

oh just in january? I should be able to wait another month.
still wouldn't be a bad idea though, adding more buy options to the arcen website store :P
I'd love to be a beta player as well for future expansions.

You can try Gamersgate  http://www.gamersgate.com/DDB-AWLOTS/ai-war-light-of-the-spire-bundle  They have some additional purchase options that might work.

Not only do you get 5% of your purchase in store credit (blue coins) but you can later plug the cd-key into steam once they add it to their store.

Thanks for all the thoughts, all.  As far as our website processing goes, we don't do any direct sales, it's all through our ecommerce partners, so it's a matter of what they support.  Doing something like Paypal, or, from what I've seen, ClickAndPlay (I never saw it until today, but checked it out a bit), that's legally more direct sales, which creates a lot of legal challenges that we don't currently have to deal with.

The service that we use for our ecommerce platform is FastSpring.  If you would like to send them a note asking for ClickAndPlay support, I'm sure that would mean a lot more coming from potential customers rather than from me.  There's a simple contact form here, if you like: http://sites.fastspring.com/arcengames/order/contact

As MrPopov mentions, GamersGate does already have the preorders set up for LotS, as they tend to have all our various beta stuff early, but so far Steam has always waited until the first official release before carrying our titles.

Hope that helps!

  • To add me on Steam, click the little Steam icon ^
As Mrpopov said, if you purchase the game from Gamersgate, that will not prevent you from "unlocking" it on Steam.  You can simply enter your CD key on Steam under your account and you will have it there too.  This is probably the fastest option to get it there for now :P
