Unlocked module don't fit?

Hi,

Human Shadow frigate champion. I have unlocked shield IV, but I can only mount shield II, what gives? There is not indication whatsoever that I'm restricted in level ?

It's not really a level restriction, as such.

The shadow vessels have tiers/sizes they advance through, which controls the maximum level of module they can wield. Frigates are just the smallest size of shadow vessel.
They can only get up to mark II, unfortunately, so you'll have to do a few more nebula to unlock the ship size that can equip modules at mark IV.

I believe the maximum module tier a hull can mount is mentioned in the hull's description.  Anyway, FF/DD/CA/BB hulls can mount mkII/III/IV/V modules, respectively.  It's just to provide a way of making the larger hulls the appropriate amount more powerful without them having to have like 5 times as many module slots as the FF.

Well, 4x but they already do. OTOH if they didn't it'd be hell to use any module that's not your main type since FF level firepower is pathetic.
