Thing that make you go OMG
« on: June 13, 2014, 04:20:04 pm »
So I'm farming the Archive @ Bangmetin and I flip over to the map.  I watch with morbid curiosity as this starts moving...

Opened your save. My computer wept. Switched to the ST planet and ship icons filled my screen, so I zoomed out. Game told me that it _was_ totally zoomed out. You could seriously walk from one end of the inner grav well to the other without getting your feet cold.

Lol.  Yes, only 6 digits....

This is what 67k threat looks like and what it does to Spire Fleets.
This was a full 2 city fleet.

How do you have 6 digit threat at 100 AIP?

I think you have me confused with another player.

Look closely at the map image.  Until I took Bangmetin (far left), I had no outlet for the AI to send waves.  Checking the clock, 19 hours +.  Also, there is a pissed off Raid Engine throwing a fit and stacking threat on Savthorin.

Threat accumulates as fast as I can clear it :)

If it were Faulty I wouldn't need to recommend Warheads ;)

Is that... 18 homeworlds?

You're insane. How has your CPU not exploded yet?

And everytime you do recommend them, I tell you I don't need them. :P
The ONLY bad thing about large AI Fleets is actually engaging them.  It really feels like half of my stuff isn't engaged (spawners and stuff) if they aren't already in the system when the AI arrives.  It's a major problem if it is the case (one I'll always run into).

16 HWs.  I play crazy games and post the most outlandish stuff here for shock and awe  ;)

It's pretty fun to turn the norm on its head and play my way.

My PC is a beast.  I'll start games on my laptop but move them over to the PC mid to late game.

All those HP bars in the mid/right side of my fleet ball are drones that refused to engage the Exo waves passing through the system.

That's basically your computer telling you "y'know what, you want that many ships?  You tell them what to do."

Except not all of them can be given orders.  Spawned blades are in there and not doing anything too.  It's frustrating when all the AI ships are getting their licks in and yours sit and "turn the other cheek".

Multi-HW games are really fun (whish my PC could handle more than 3-5 HWs).

The main problem I have with your setup here is that you could have gotten at least three more spire cities out of that layout (by leaving for example Cenisaun, Ginjiship and Nikapan as non-homeworlds).
Seeing as you won't be able to get many completely-safe-behind-chokepoint worlds in that galaxy (you're already lucky to have the one chokepoint at Mikhung), it's pretty important to unlock as many FS ships as possible to get maximum use out of the Multi-HW shipcaps.

In my current game I have full 10 HW caps of TDL I-IV, Blades Spawners I-V and Lightning Torp Fregates I-V in my Fleet. But as soon as I get on a planet with enough units, they just sit around and attrition to death :( At least the torps stay around to keep the planet clean for the next few minutes after I left it. Actually, there are places to put 4 chokepoint planets in the middle of the map.  That would give me 5 cities and eventually control of more than half the map, and the ability to place more cities.  That plan changed a bit when I decided to choke out the AI by taking the worlds just outside the Core Worlds (3 planets) and giving me the ability to attempt a massive takeover.  It looks like I might be able to put 124 planets under my control.
