Actually if it's more monies for Arcen then let them do the sales. I was always wondering who gets less money and if they are asking developers before that kind of sale... X can you say something about this?
It depends. This sale looks like Gamer's Gate is the one taking the hit, but X would have to confirm. If so, I'll definitely pick up two more copies for some friends.
I missed this question yesterday. It's
always both companies that take it. We all have revenue splits, and when something is on sale, revenues are lower. So if we make 70/30 (which is common), then it's 70% of $10 instead of $20 if it's on sale, and 30% of the lower number instead of the higher for the other party. This general relationship is true across the board, with all digital distributors and all publishers, to my knowledge.
This is very different from retail, where the store is the one who takes the hit when they mark something down, since they bought it on wholesale. But in cases of digital distribution, there is no wholesale price, there is simply a revenue split. It's a lot like basically any e-commerce platform you could set up (like FastSpring, for instance, which is 92/8 in our favor).
